Goal:Develop a program for soccer players to enjoy an additional level of competition within the structure of AYSO

Objectives:
4 or 6 U10 Boys teams compete on bi-weekly single site schedule in spring 2010.

AYSO Coach and Referee programs are utilized to provide high quality environment.

Area 8D inter-play guidelines and AYSO Flex play policy will be developed during pilot to apply for status FS2010 and offer U10 – U14 Extra Play program.

Overview:
All requirements of AYSO Rules & Regulations, FIFA Laws of the Game, and Area 8D inter-play guidelines will be followed in the Extra Play program. Special attention will be given to roster and player identification rules. Volunteer training prerequisites will be met.

It is recommended that each team contain a group of at least three AYSO volunteers to serve as Head Coach, Assist Coach, and Assist Referee in attendance on a consistent basis.

Teams of ten may be formed from the existing pool of registered FS2009 U10 male players in one or more Area 8D Region. Multiple teams from the same pool will require balancing per AYSO standards. Players will be selected for teams via group skill evaluations performed per Flex standard. Players will be expected to participate in practices and games with both regular season and Extra teams on a consistent basis.

Regions will pay $100 fee per team for program expenses. Funds will be held a separate Area bank account administered by Program Director.

Coaches (head & assist) must be trained at AYSO U10 Coach. U12 Coach is the standard and preferred. Two Coaches must be in attendance at games and may include team referee.

Center Referee will be scheduled by program for each game. Intermediate or higher is the standard. Regional Referee may be allowed during the pilot. Each team is expected to provide one Regional Referee or higher to serve as Assistant Referee at team’s game. AYSO Assistant Referee or USSF Grade 9 training will be accepted during the pilot. An incentive program will be developed by the program to reward referee participation.

Teams will play one game on Sunday afternoons at the Marshall Soccer Complex on April 11, April 25, May 9, and May 23. A special division will be available at the 2010 Area Tournament for Extra Play teams, at the regular team fee.
